Note about naming: ConvertKit rebranded as Kit in 2024. You'll see "Kit" branding on their website (kit.com), but the integration inside Marvelous is still labeled "ConvertKit." It's the same product — just renamed by them.

Step 1 — Find your API Key and API Secret in Kit
Marvelous needs two values from your Kit account: your API Key and your API Secret. These let Marvelous talk to Kit on your behalf.
Log in to Kit, then go to your account settings to find both keys. For the API Secret, click "Show" to reveal it. Kit's UI may look slightly different from the screenshot below — for the current way to find your API keys, see Kit's official docs on API keys.
Step 2 — Open the ConvertKit integration in Marvelous
In your Marvelous dashboard, click Settings, select Integrations, and then click ConvertKit.
Step 3 — Paste your keys into Marvelous
Paste your Kit API Key and API Secret into the matching fields. Click "Update and connect ConvertKit". Marvelous and Kit can now talk to each other and share the tags you've created.
Step 4 — Choose a default tag
Important: Create your tags in Kit before you assign a default tag in Marvelous.
Now choose your default tag. This tag is what every new student who creates an account on your Marvelous site will be assigned, whether they've purchased a product or not. For most teachers, this is the tag for their main newsletter.
If you leave this blank, new students who create an account WILL NOT BE ADDED to your Kit list.
Step 5 — Product-specific tags
If you'd like to send a series of emails to students who sign up for a specific product, you can add tags based on what product they purchased (or joined, in the case of free products).
For example, if a student purchases your membership, you could assign them the tag "membership". In Kit, you could then send a monthly email to all members using that tag.
Or if you have a 4-week course, you could give the tag "4weekcourse" to everyone who purchases the course, and then in Kit send a weekly reminder email to those with that tag.
As soon as a student purchases a product, they'll receive the tag you've chosen.
Tag removals
If a student does not purchase a product, finishes a course, or stops a recurring subscription, Marvelous will not remove tags or delete that student from Kit. Tag removals need to be managed inside Kit directly.
