If your chosen payment processor is PayPal, but your student says they don't have a PayPal account, they are still able to purchase with a credit card (and no PayPal account) when purchasing a fixed price product.

<b>Fixed Price Product (one-time purchase)</b><br>Your customers do not have to create a PayPal account to purchase your Marvelous products. PayPal offers an option to simply use a credit or debit card. Your customers will see this screen when they click on your 'Buy' buttons.

For recurring products (monthly memberships), your customer will need to create a PayPal account. For the system to charge a credit card monthly, it needs to store the information and that is why they need to create an account.
