Marvelous integrates with Mailchimp! We love Mailchimp's ease of use and their beautiful design templates and we recommend that all teachers start with the free plan. Once you have an account set up with Mailchimp, you can then easily integrate with Marvelous. Integrating allows you to send your students to various Mailchimp lists depending on the action they take inside your Marvelous site.

STEP 1: FIND YOUR API KEY IN MAILCHIMP

Your first step is to allow Marvelous to talk to Mailchimp by entering your Mailchimp API Key. You'll find your API key by clicking on your account on the bottom right corner then Account.

Then click on Extras at the top then API keys.

You'll find your API key below, you'll need to copy it over to your Hey Marvelous account.

If there's no key shown you can click on Create A Key to generate one.

STEP 2: ADD YOUR API KEY TO MARVELOUS

1) Click "Settings" and select "Integrate".

2) Select "Mailchimp".

3) Paste your "Mailchimp API key".

STEP 3: DEFAULT LIST/AUDIENCE
Note: What Mailchimp used to call "lists", they now call "audience". In Marvelous the drop-down menus are still for a Mailchimp list but these are the audiences you set up in your Mailchimp site.

Now it's time to choose your default list. When a new student creates an account on your Hey Marvelous site, which list would you like Marvelous to add them to? Marvelous will add every new student's email who creates an account on your site to your default list regardless if they've purchased a product or not. For most teachers, this is typically the list to receive their main newsletter.

STEP 4: PRODUCT SPECIFIC LISTS
If you'd like to send an automated series of emails to students who sign up for one of your products, you can add their email to a specific list based on what product they've purchased (or joined, in the case of free products).

For example, if a student purchases your membership, you could add them to the "membership" list and send them a monthly email through Mailchimp to all membership subscribers

Another example is if you have a 4-week course, you could add anyone who purchases the course to a list called "4-Week Course". And then you could send these students through an automated sequence you've created specifically to help engage them in the course.

Note: you must create the lists in Mailchimp first in order for them to appear in the drop-down menus in Marvelous. Learn more here.

To set up an automated sequence or create a new campaign please refer to the Mailchimp Knowledge Base.

REMOVAL FROM A LIST

If a student does not purchase a product, finishes a course, or stops a recurring subscription, Marvelous will not remove that student from any of your lists.
