This article will guide you on how to integrate your Twilio account with Marvelous.

To get the most out of this step-by-step guide, we suggest you to have your Twilio Console open in one browser window, and your Marvelous Dashboard in another.

Note: If you do not have a Twilio account, you will need to sign up for a paid Twilio account before using it with Marvelous. You can create an account by clicking here.

Before you connect Twilio and Marvelous

There are two options for sending SMS notifications using the Twilio integration.

  1. Your Twilio phone number

  2. Alphanumeric SID

To create your Twilio phone number, you follow the prompts on the welcome page of your Twilio Console. To find your Twilio number go to the left-hand navigation bar, Phone Numbers > Active Numbers. If you don't have an active number yet, you'll have to purchase one.

The Alphanumeric SID feature is only supported in certain countries. Find out more about that here.

Creating Your Alphanumeric SID

When you use an Alphanumeric SID, your name (or business name) will be shown when you send the SMS notification. This way customers know who sent the message.

If you have chosen to use an Alphanumeric SID, you will need to create a Messaging Services to generate your unique Alphanumeric SID.

When in Twilio Console, go to the left-hand navigation bar, click Messaging > Services, and then click Create Messaging Services.

Follow the steps to create a messaging service.

Important: You must select an "Alpha Sender" and enter your name, such as your business or studio name. Keep it short. The name you choose will be the one that customers see when they receive an SMS notification from you via your Marvelous site.

This will generate your Twilio Alphanumeric Sender ID. This ID allows you to send SMS messages to your customers from a personalized sender ID (like a business or organization name), instead of your Twilio Phone number.

Note: Not all countries support an Alphanumeric SID. Instead, you will need to set up a phone number. You can do this on the Twilio Console welcome page by following the prompts.

Connecting your Twilio account with Marvelous

  1. In Marvelous, go to Settings.

  2. Scroll down to Mailing and click the Twilio card.

  3. This will open a screen that will ask for your Twilio:

    1. Account SID

    2. Auth Token

    3. Messaging FROM number

      OR

    4. Messaging alphanumeric sender ID

  4. On your Twillio welcome page. Scroll down to find your Account SID, Auth Token, and Twilio Phone Number.

  5. Copy your Account SID, and Auth Token, and paste them into the required fields on your Marvelous dashboard.

  6. If you are using your Twilio phone number, then copy that and paste it into the Messaging FROM number field.

  7. If you choose to use the Alphanumeric Sender ID instead of the phone number, you will find it by going to Messaging > Services.
