Creating a Podcast

  1. Click on Products on the left then go to Podcast. Click on "Add podcast" on the top right.

  2. Make sure to add the following in the Details tab.

Private podcast title: this is your podcast's title

Podcast description: a brief description of your podcast

Host(s): select from your list of instructors to set as a host or hosts

Is it public?: enable this if you'd like to add your podcast to podcast directories such as Spotify, iTunes, etc. This will set your podcast to public.

Note: Setting your podcast to public will allow you to add it to podcast directories like Apple Podcasts or Spotify, but will also make the podcast available to the public.

When the podcast is set to public, the RSS tab will show. This will show you the RSS feed URL that you can submit to the podcast directories.

When the podcast is private, each student gets their own unique RSS feed to use with their favorite podcast app.

Products: Select one or more products that the podcast will be linked to. Anyone with active access to those products will have access to your private podcast.
Podcast artwork: You can choose to upload from your device or from Canva, Unsplash, or embed an image. This image should be 3000x3000px and will be displayed by podcast apps and also in your studio.

Note: For the artwork - the image must be 3000x3000 pixels, otherwise some podcast apps will not be able to display it. Make sure to have podcast description and podcast artwork or a link will not be generated.

  3. The Notifications tab is visible only for private podcasts. It allows you to add a welcome message for new listeners and set the receiving email if students reply to your welcome email.

  4. Your podcast will now show as a draft. Clicking on the 3 horizontal dots next to it will let you add an episode, edit the podcast, view members, publish the podcast and delete it. Clicking on the podcast will also let you edit it. Click on Publish podcast to make it available.

Uploading an Episode

  1. To upload an episode, click on the horizontal dots on the right and select "Add new episodes".

  2. Click Add Episode and add the title as well as the description. Click on "Add content" and select the file from your Media Library.

  3. You can use mp3 files or video media items - for video files, Marvelous will try to extract the audio and save it in your Media Library to be used for the episode. If you'd like to upload a file from your device, click on Upload file, then upload and select the file from your device.

Note: If a video has been selected, it will take some time for the audio to be extracted. This may take a few minutes, depending on how large the video file is.

  4. If you'd like to make the episode available immediately, click on Publish on the left. Otherwise clicking on Schedule will let you set a release date and time.

  5. Click on the trashcan icon to delete the episode or the pencil icon to edit it. For example, if you want to replace the episode, clicking on the pencil icon then Remove will let you upload a different file without redoing the title or description.

  6. You can reorder the episodes by clicking and dragging the 3 horizontal lines on the left of each episode.

That's it! You're ready to create your own podcast on Marvelous!
