Not sure which product type to use or how to set things up? You're not alone — this is the most common question new Marvelous creators have. The good news: once you know what you're selling, the setup is straightforward.

Below are the five most common business models our wellness creators use, with the recommended product setup for each. Find the one that matches what you're building, then follow the links to the step-by-step guides.

1. Monthly On-Demand Membership

Best for: Yoga studios, fitness instructors, and wellness teachers who want to offer a growing library of recorded classes plus optional live sessions.

How it works: Students pay a recurring monthly (or annual) fee and get access to all your content — videos, audio, PDFs — plus any live events you schedule inside the product.

Setup:

• Product type: On-demand Library (Membership)

• Pricing: Recurring — Monthly and/or Annual (use "Multiple" to offer both)

• Schedule: Evergreen (always available)

• Add your video and audio content under the Content tab

• Schedule live classes under the Events tab (students see them on their calendar)

💡 Tip: If you're transitioning from a brick-and-mortar studio and your students already pay you through another system, use a 100% off coupon to grant them access without re-entering payment. Here's how →

2. Online Course or Program

Best for: Health coaches, wellness educators, and teachers who want to guide students through structured content — like a 6-week meditation program or a nutrition certification.

How it works: Students pay once (or via payment plan) and progress through lessons in order. You can drip content on a schedule or let them work at their own pace.

Setup:

• Product type: Course

• Pricing: Fixed Price (one-time payment). Add a payment plan for higher-priced programs.

• Schedule: Fixed Start + End Date (for cohort-based) or Evergreen (for self-paced)

• Build your lessons under the Lessons tab and add content to each

• Use drip scheduling to release lessons over time

3. Class Card / Drop-In Studio

Best for: Yoga and Pilates studios that want to sell class packs (e.g., 5-class or 10-class punch cards) instead of — or alongside — monthly memberships.

How it works: Students buy a pack of credits and redeem them when they attend live classes. You can specify which events accept which ClassCards.

Setup:

• Product type: On-demand Library with ClassCard pricing enabled

• Pricing: Set the number of credits and price per pack

• Link your live events to the ClassCard so students can redeem credits

💡 Tip: Many studios offer both a ClassCard and a monthly membership. The membership is better value for regular attendees; the ClassCard works for drop-in students. You can run both side by side.

4. Private Coaching or 1:1 Sessions

Best for: Health coaches, therapists, yoga therapists, and practitioners who offer one-on-one sessions — live or with a mix of recorded content and live check-ins.

How it works: You create a private product visible only to that client. It can include live session scheduling, recordings of past sessions, and supporting materials like PDFs or homework.

Setup:

• Product type: On-demand Library, set to Hidden (only visible to those with the link)

• Pricing: Fixed Price (for a package) or Recurring (for ongoing coaching)

• Use Private Spaces to create a dedicated area for each client

• Integrate with Calendly or Acuity so clients can self-book sessions

5. Hybrid: Membership + Live Classes + Course

Best for: Established wellness businesses that want to offer multiple products — like a monthly membership for ongoing classes, a standalone course for beginners, and private coaching for premium clients.

How it works: You create multiple products, each configured for its purpose. Students can purchase one or several. Live events can be shared across products so you don't have to schedule them twice.

Setup:

• Create each product using the guides above

• Use shared events to add the same live class to multiple products

• Use coupons to bundle products or offer discounts across your offerings

• Arrange the order of products on your Shop page by dragging and dropping in the Products tab

General Tips

Use Stripe as your payment processor. It gives you and your students the most flexibility — subscriptions can be paused, canceled, and edited directly in Marvelous. Compare Stripe vs. PayPal →

Always test a purchase before going live. Use a different browser or incognito mode to buy your own product and make sure everything works — pricing, access, content visibility.

Start simple. You don't need to launch with five products. Start with one, get students in, and expand from there.
